Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY)
A government savings scheme for a girl under 10, with tax-free interest, maturing when she turns 21.
Deposit ₹250 to ₹1.5 lakh a year for 15 years (counts for 80C in the old regime); the account keeps earning until it matures 21 years after opening. Up to half can be withdrawn at 18 for education. The rate is set every quarter.
Interest and maturity are tax-free.
