How NPS works at exit

You contribute regularly until you exit (usually at 60, and you can stay invested up to 85). At exit, part of the corpus must buy an annuity that pays a monthly pension, and the rest can be withdrawn.

Since December 2025, private and all-citizen subscribers need a minimum 20% annuity and can withdraw up to 80%; a corpus of ₹8 lakh or less can be withdrawn in full. Government employees still need a 40% annuity. Annuity rates vary by insurer and plan.

Contributions can save tax: up to ₹50,000 under 80CCD(1B) in the old regime, and employer contributions under 80CCD(2) in both.

Results are estimates for illustration only, not financial advice. Banks and schemes may round, apply TDS or use slightly different day counts — confirm figures with your bank or employer.
