How PPF works

You can deposit ₹500 to ₹1,50,000 a year. Interest is worked out monthly on the lowest balance between the 5th and the end of the month, and credited every 31 March — so a deposit made by 5 April earns interest for the full year.

The account matures after 15 years and can be extended in blocks of 5 years, with or without new deposits. PPF is EEE: deposits qualify for Section 80C (old regime), and the interest and maturity amount are tax-free.

The government sets the PPF rate every quarter; this calculator assumes the rate you enter stays the same.

Results are estimates for illustration only, not financial advice. Banks and schemes may round, apply TDS or use slightly different day counts — confirm figures with your bank or employer.
