How RD maturity is calculated
You deposit the same amount every month, and interest compounds every quarter. Each instalment earns interest only for the time it stays deposited — the first for the full tenure, the last for one month. That is how banks and the Post Office calculate it: M = R × [(1 + i)n − 1] ÷ [1 − (1 + i)−1/3], with i = rate ÷ 400 and n the number of quarters.
Missing an instalment usually means a small penalty and a lower maturity value. RD interest is taxable like FD interest.
Results are estimates for illustration only, not financial advice. Banks and schemes may round, apply TDS or use slightly different day counts — confirm figures with your bank or employer.
